The story of Murangi House is one touched by history, charm and warm hospitality.
Built in the 1950's, Murangi House the product of renown architect the legendary Dorothy Hughes of Hughes & Polkinghorne Architects, is one of the little gems in the lady's formidable portfolio. Hughes is more famously acknowledged for projects of grandeur such as the Holy Family Basilica Nairobi which was completed in 1960.
The history of Murangi (Bamboo in the Kikuyu language) is as exciting as the persons who have graced the residence not least the widow of Dr. Martin Luther King Jnr, the late Mrs. Coretta Scott King. It was for many years a much beloved private family home, savoured for it's enchant, aura of elegance, all wrapped around airy living spaces bathed in light.
The House now offers local and international guests a superb accommodation experience right at the door step of Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi National Park and the world famous David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's baby Elephant orphanage.
